My free network switch
A switch out of a trash pile at my college. No password, default VLANs, and it does indeed work.
My college gave me this free networking switch. I don’t know if it was brand new, I bet it was very expensive, but now you can find it on eBay for under $100.
This was sitting in a trash pile, so let’s see if it even turns on.
Now that it powers on, let’s plug in our console cable and see what’s even on this. We connect to
the switch by running a command, and then — good news — the switch doesn’t have a password, so I can
just type enable and get into admin mode.
So now let’s see if there’s even any current configurations on the switch. There looks to be data on this, but I want to run this command just to make sure.
It looks like it’s already been factory reset, because these are the default VLANs.
And now with all the data wiped and everything plugged in, we can finally see that it does indeed work.
